Richard Olson is U.S. Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan from October 31, 2012.Prior, he served as Director for Development and Economic Affairs at U.S. Embassy Kabul, Afghanistan, from a period of 2011 to 2012. He also worked as U.S. Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates for a period of 2008 to 2011.
He has also give his services at US Foreign Affairs in different countries including in Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates, Uganda, Tunisia, and in Najaf, Iraq. He was also Deputy Chief of Mission at the United States Mission to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
He graduated from Brown University in 1981 and did B.A. in Law and Society & History.As far as his personal life is concern,he is the father of two daughters.He enjoys cycling and hiking as a hobby.
