The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Muhammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the 5th of December, 2014 at the ACCA Karachi Office to promote the accounting and finance profession in Karachi.
The MoU will provide the students of BSc in Accounting and Finance programme in MAJU the opportunity to pursue globally recognised qualification in the field of accountancy and finance. ACCA will assist the university in aligning their business education programs and award maximum ACCA exemptions. They will assist the university in modernising its accounting and finance curriculum and also promote ACCA qualification through Student Brand Manager Program. It will also provide an opportunity for ACCA members to pursue the post-graduation programs offered at MAJU with possible number of exemptions.
The MoU will benefit the university from the ACCA’s research and insight, scholarships, career advisory services, and networking forum. MAJU students will now be able to avail exemptions and ACCA will provide opportunity for MAJU students to study academic and ACCA qualifications together.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Sajjeed Aslam, Head of ACCA Pakistan; Mr. Rehan Uddin, Head of Education MENASA; Prof. Dr. Abdul Wahab, President of MAJU; and senior hpw representatives of ACCA Pakistan and MAJU.
Commenting on the collaboration between ACCA and MAJU, Mr. Sajjeed Aslam emphasized on the benefits ACCA students can achieve through guest speaker sessions held at MAJU, while MAJU students can avail exemptions to study ACCA qualification. He also added that the relationship will, now, open doors to endless possibilities for ACCA students and members to pursue master’s level degree and obtain a progressive career roadmap.
At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Abdul Wahab highlighted the importance of developing resources in educational institutes through the academic and vocational training sessions. He further added that this will prepare the young generation to overcome the challenges in a given environment and produce solutions to problems.
The MoU signing is just an initiation of providing Pakistan with well qualified accountants with superior skills as a bonus to their professional qualification. ACCA and MAJU will work together to provide accountants that are competent and well versed in their field that will be needed by our country as well as global economies. This collaboration will provide an exciting platform that will help build careers for young people and make a significant contribution to the ongoing economic progress of Pakistan.
